Becoming a Master of Wine - The beginning of a Journey
About 5 years ago I started on my wine adventure, and it has been great – I traveled to amazing places, tasted great wines and put my career in the direction of this fascinating industry.
Academically I followed the WSET program and I am really proud to have achieved the Diploma in Wine and Spirts this year. (yeah)
But what is next? Is that it?
My weekly wine - Tasting South Africa
My weekly wine, give me today - this week South Africa
The first wine is called The Wolftrap (2017) from Boekenhoutskloof in Franschhoek.
The area is in the Coastal Region of the Western Cape and is one of the most important wine valleys in South Africa founded in the 17th Century by French settlers. The climate is warm with moderating effects of the coastal winds and the surrounding mountains. Which leads to rich, full-bodied, flavorful wines, mainly from Cabernet, Syrah.
My weekly wine - Tasting Piedmont
About 2 years ago I had the chance to visit this amazing area in Italy - staying at an amazing place in Serralunga Di Montefalco and cruising around to all the Barolo towns - Barolo, La Morra, Castilglione, Monforte and Serralunga. Besides trying the big Barolos, I fell in love with Barbera, in particular with Barbera d’Alba.
My weekly wine - Battle of Sauvignon Blanc
Last week was international Sauvignon Blanc day, so I am dedicating this week’s tasting to the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
Why not go classic Sancerre or Pouilly-Fumé, which I also had in my line up? Having Sauvignon Blanc from two different regions of New Zealand was way to tempting to write about.
Rosé all Day?!
The days are getting longer, warmer and sunnier – summer, you are here! And how much I love you for the atmosphere, the good vibes and all the joyful inventive drinks. It is easy to fall in love with the flavors of the season: light, refreshing, flavorful – herbs, red berries, lemon, and grapefruit. Yum!
